Rani Kamlapati Palace
A Gond queen's lakeside legacy.
The Story
Built in the late 17th century by the last Gond queen of Bhopal, Rani Kamlapati. This 7-storey palace once rose above the waters of the Upper Lake — only the lower floors remain, but its romantic ruins, lily ponds and reflected silhouette at dusk still hint at a vanished kingdom.
