Taj-ul-Masajid
Crown among mosques — one of Asia's largest.
The Story
Commissioned by Shah Jahan Begum in the 1870s, Taj-ul-Masajid means 'Crown of Mosques'. Its pink sandstone walls, twin octagonal minarets and bulbous white domes echo Mughal grandeur, while its sheer scale — the marble-floored courtyard can hold tens of thousands — places it among the largest mosques in the subcontinent.
